Trevon Diggs, a cornerback for the Dallas Cowboys with a penchant for interceptions, signed a long extension with the franchise. The terms of his deal are not yet updated on his Spotrac page. However, there is a blurb on his profile page with information about the deal. He signed a five-year deal worth $97M, which included a $21.25M signing bonus.

Trevon Diggs is currently 200 to 1 with bet365 to be the Defensive Player of the Year in 2023/24. Statistically, he had a bit of a decline in 2022/23. In 2021/22, he had eleven interceptions while in 2022/23 he only had three.

However, the Cowboys appear undeterred as Diggs’ contract is large for a defensive player. Often a player that gets so many interceptions just influences the offense to throw in a section of the field where he isn’t playing. This can be what leads to INTs going down after a player establishes himself as a threat.

Recent NFL News: Justin Herbert inks deal

In other contract news from Tuesday, Justin Herbert also signed a five-year deal. The quarterback for the Los Angeles Chargers has a deal in place for $262.5M over that time frame (spotrac page).

Herbert is among the favorites in several futures markets with bet365. He is +650 to lead the NFL in passing yards, making him the third favorite in the category. He is also the fourth favorite to be the NFL MVP, priced at +1100. Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow, and Josh Allen are the only three players with shorter odds.

New York Giants resolve situation with Saquon Barkley

The Saquon Barkley situation came to fruition on Tuesday as well. Barkley is the franchise tag for the New York Giants. There was some talk out of him that he might have to consider sitting for a season. However, he signed a one-year deal that will keep him with the Giants through the upcoming season. Terms of the deal, as per his Spotrac profile, were $10,091,000, including a $2,000,000 signing bonus.

That resolves the situation for the Giants and their fans, one that could have gotten ugly for both sides. Barkley, a running back, is 33 to 1 to be Offensive Player of the Year (bet365). The Giants are +165 to make the playoffs this upcoming season.

As for unresolved situations, Josh Jacobs did not report to camp today for Las Vegas. Also, Chris Jones for the KC Chiefs has not yet reported. NFL fans for those teams will definitely be awaiting news updates as they are both key players on their rosters.
