This year’s midsummer classic for Major League Baseball, more formerly known as the 2023 MLB All-Star Game, is over. The National League ended a losing streak to the American League on Tuesday night. The final score was 3-2 in the NL’s favor, a result that ends a string of losses dating back to 2013.

There weren’t a ton of hits in this one. However, Elias Diaz homered in the top of the eighth. The two-run shot proved to be the difference in the game. It set Felix Bautista up with the loss for the AL. Meanwhile, Camilo Doval was the NL’s winning pitcher. Elias Diaz’s home run made him the first member of the Colorado Rockies to win the All-Star Game MVP Award.

Boston’s Kenley Jansen appeared in the game. He registered a strikeout on three pitches for a 0.1-inning outing. Pitches in the All-Star Game are normally at a premium as each team has so many worthy arms. Jansen was the only member of the Boston Red Sox that appeared in this year’s game.

Major League teams will remain on break for a couple more days. The regular-season schedule will resume on July 14th, 2023. The Boston Red Sox will open a series against the Chicago Cubs, a series that Chicago will host. Boston will be looking to stay hot after winning a host of games prior to the break.

Atlanta Braves World Series Favorites

The resumption of play after the All-Star break is normally considered the start of the second half of the season. Heading into this part of the 2023 season, the Atlanta Braves are the 2023 World Series favorites (bet365). They have posted an amazing .844 winning percentage in their last 32 games. The Braves are in clear charge of the NL East division. They will host the Chicago White Sox in interleague play on Friday.

MLB News: Tampa Bay faces KC

The Tampa Bay Rays have been touted as the favorites in the American League, but their recent performance has left much to be desired. Despite their initial hype, the team has been struggling in the past few weeks, managing a meager 7-13 record in their last 20 games.

Such a low winning percentage of .350 over this period raises concerns and should make bettors think twice before placing their confidence in the Rays. It’s quite possible that Tampa Bay’s position in all futures markets might soon start to slip away. But currently, the Rays are leading the pack in American League championship futures, surpassing the likes of the Astros and the struggling Texas Rangers.
