NFL fans will be ready for all the Week 1 showdowns in September. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers clash with the Minnesota Vikings in an early game of Week 1 (Sunday, September 10th, 2023 @ 1 PM ET). The Vikings, favored to win, will be hosting this Tampa Bay vs Minnesota encounter. According to bet365 sportsbook, the Vikings have a handicap of -6.5 (-110). That is one of the bigger handicaps of the week, with only the Kansas City Chiefs considered stronger at -7.0.

Tampa Bay vs Minnesota: Baker Mayfield’s TB debut

All eyes are expected to be on Baker Mayfield as he potentially makes his Tampa Bay debut as a quarterback. However, he’ll need to prove his worth and secure the QB1 position during the preseason. With Kyle Trask and John Wolford providing backup, the Buccaneers will be counting on Mayfield to rise to the occasion. Between the three QBs, he certainly has the most potential.

Yet, Mayfield certainly is not without his opponents. Some might say that his status as a starting QB in the NFL is edgy. From Cleveland to Carolina to Los Angeles, Mayfield has bounced around lately. Tampa Bay, who have been spoiled in recentl seasons, is his current home. The quarterbacking duties are a job Mayfield fell into following the retirement of Tom Brady. Mayfield will certainly have a tough act to follow, noting that Brady managed to get the Bucs to the playoffs last season, even as a swan song.

Minnesota should be tough to beat

The Vikings have appointed Brian Flores as their new defensive coordinator. With his previous experience as Miami’s head coach, Flores is definitely qualified for the job. You might say he faced unwarranted criticism during his tenure in Miami.

The Vikings seem to have made a wise decision in entrusting their defense to Flores. It’s hard to imagine the Bucs scoring their share in this game. That would leave a significant burden for the Vikings to carry. Our suggestion is to bet on the total points falling below 45.5, with odds of -110 (bet365 sportsbook).
