The Chicago Cubs will open their series against their in-city rivals, the Chicago White Sox. The first game of the series goes tonight at 8:10 PM ET, the first of two games that the teams will play.

The Chicago Cubs have shown a significant improvement in their recent form. As of June 9th, 2023, the team had a disappointing record of 26 wins and 36 losses. However, they have turned things around since then, winning 22 out of their last 37 games (.595). Meanwhile, the Chicago White Sox have gone just 11-19 in their last 30 games for a .367 winning percentage during those games.

At present, the Cincinnati Reds are leading the NL Wild Card standings, with the Arizona Diamondbacks, the San Francisco Giants, and the Miami Marlins trailing behind as the next contenders. The Cubs are not out of this race by any measure. They are five games back of the final spot. If they can keep playing well, you have to think that some of the teams ahead of them will regress. The Cubs are now +600 to qualify for the playoffs, odds that have been shortening lately.

Cubs vs White Sox: betting recommendation (July 25th)

Meanwhile, the Chicago White Sox are all but done for the season. They’ll have to play their games out but they are 41-60 and it is futile to hope for them to make a resurgence. They are 15 games back of the last Wild Card spot and there are a lot of other teams ahead of them. Currently, they are 33 to 1 to make the playoffs with bet365. Of the teams that have betting odds in this market (ie. KC and Oakland are off the board), only the Pittsburgh Pirates have longer odds now (40 to 1).

Take the Cubs to beat the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday night. The Cubs have a slight advantage in the pitching match-up. But, perhaps more importantly, the Cubs have a more palpable drive right now.

Recommendation: Cubs beat White Sox at -115 with bet365
